Swatches and drapes: “During the testing process, I go through these colours one by one to find the best one for each client. It’s often instantly obvious when someone’s got the wrong colour on!”
Magazines: “Style books and magazines keep me informed of the latest trends. You shouldn’t reply on magazines too much though. I often see people walking around town who obviously copied a whole look from the pages of a style magazine. People need to interpret fashion themselves, not wear what fashion editors tell them to wear.”
Make-up: “The best kind of make-up should make you feel natural and relaxed: ideally, it should make you look like you’re not even wearing make-up!”
Measuring tape: Knowing what size to wear is crucial. Wearing clothes that are too tight for you is okay if you’re fit and skinny, but if you’re even slightly overweight, it can be a problem. One thing to remember: never add anything to your widest point: it makes you even wider!”
