On Thursday, 6th May, a group of ‘fashionistas’, aspiring to avoid a seasonal wardrobe crisis, were given an inspiring talk by Eve Roth Lindsay.
Eve is well known as a top fashion designer and in 2001 founded her image consultancy, ‘Savvy Style, Colour Me Beautiful, HK’ to share her knowledge and help us all to look our best whether at work or for leisure. The colour and style of our clothes can make an immediate and powerful impact on others and will boost confidence when we get it right.
Eve explained the system of colour identification, based on the responses of the human eye, which was invented by Albert Munsell in 1903. Colours were identified as having three characteristics – hue, value and chroma. A colour analysis with Eve will determine whether you are Light or Deep, Warm or Cool, Clear or Soft, by looking at a combination of hair colour, eye colour and skin tone.
Understanding which colour to wear is only part of the story, as Eve continued by discussing the various body shapes and proportions which determine suitable styles to flatter and enhance. Eve moved on to talk about our personalities to see whether we regarded ourselves as romantic, creative, classic, city chic, dramatic, natural or combinations of several.
By now it was obvious that the wardrobe at home really needed a major reappraisal and probably serious weeding. Eve concurred with other advisers, “if you haven’t worn it for a year, bin it!”
Finally Eve shared with us some of the new season trends, including accessories and where to find them locally. The discussions were lively, the afternoon was fun and we would like to offer our thanks to Eve for her time and for inspiring us to create a new wardrobe!
