The List: What are some smart ways to dress in the heat?
Eve Roth Lindsay: Guys should look for jackets made of a light wool coat that’s mixed with tencil: it’s a synthetic fiber that makes the fabric feel soft and wick away humidity. Generally speaking, fabrics such as cotton and linen breath and will keep you cooler. For women, wearing clothes that are just a little bit looser – like shift and maxi dresses – will help because the air a able to circulate.
The List: What are some summer trends?
ERL: The whole 60s thing is very popular, and Jackie Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn looks are also in. You are seeing lots of primary colours – canary yellow, bright blue – and lots of hot pink and emerald greens. The 80s pantsuit is making a comeback, alongside a lot of black-and-white monochromed looks.
The List: What is the most versatile piece of clothing?
ERL: For a woman, I’d say your go-to dress; something that you could put on without thinking twice and know that you look good. For accessories, I’d say one favorite statement piece. There’s nothing wrong with being known for something.
The List: Who are your favorite local designers?
ERL: I’d probably say Rosarini. Karen designs clothes that can be worn by just about anybody. The mix and match, and they’re easy to wear. I also really love Nude is Rude, because the clothes have an edge to them; they’re a little quirky but still very wearable in Hong Kong’s hot weather.
